The workspace and navigation
After you sign in, Modulix opens your organization's workspace. The sidebar on the left takes you to every module you can use, the top bar holds search and notifications, and the dashboard gives you a summary of what concerns you.
The layout
| Area | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Sidebar (left) | The organization switcher at the top, the Workspace and Administration menus, and your user menu at the bottom. |
| Top bar | The button that shows or hides the sidebar, the Search… box, and buttons added by modules, such as the notification bell. |
| Main area | The page you opened: the dashboard, a list of records, a record, a settings page. |
What you see depends on your organization and your roles. Modulix only shows the modules your organization has enabled, and only the pages your permissions allow. Two people in the same organization can therefore have different menus.
The sidebar
The sidebar has two groups.
- Workspace holds the Dashboard and the main page of each enabled module that you can use, for example Contacts, Leads, Opportunities, Sales, Accounting, Inventory, My tasks or Organization.
- Administration holds the pages that configure the organization. You only see this group if you have at least one administration permission.
| Administration entry | What it is for | Learn more |
|---|---|---|
| Users | People who can access the organization | Users and invitations |
| Roles & permissions | Roles and what each one allows | Roles and permissions |
| Modules | Enabling and disabling modules | Modules |
| Settings | Organization-wide settings, per module | Organization settings |
| Custom fields | Your own fields on records | Custom fields |
| API keys and Webhooks | Connecting other systems | API keys and webhooks |
| Audit log | Who did what, and when | Audit log |
Some modules add their own administration entries, for example Taxes and Notifications.
To work with the sidebar:
- Select an entry to open it. The entry of the page you are on is highlighted.
- Select the sidebar button at the left of the top bar, or press Ctrl+B (⌘B on a Mac), to collapse the sidebar to icons. Point at an icon to see its name. Do the same again to expand it. Modulix remembers your choice in this browser.
- On a phone or a narrow window, the sidebar is hidden. Select the sidebar button to open it; it closes when you choose a page.
You do not need the sidebar to move around. Press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac) and type the name of a page. See Search and the command palette.
The dashboard
The dashboard is the first page you see after signing in. To come back to it, select Dashboard in the sidebar.
At the top, Modulix greets you by your first name and shows three figures:
| Figure | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Active modules | How many business modules are enabled for your organization. |
| Your permissions | How many permissions your roles give you, or All if you are an owner. |
| Platform version | The version of Modulix the server runs. |
Widgets
Below the figures, modules add widgets. You only see the widgets of modules your organization has enabled and that you have permission to use.
| Widget | Added by | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| My tasks | Activities & Tasks | Your open tasks by due date. |
| Waiting for your approval | Workflow Automation | Approval requests from workflows that wait for you. |
| My best leads | Leads | Your open leads with the highest scores. |
| Recent notes | Notes | The latest notes from your team. |
| Organization | Organization Structure | Your companies and their structure. |
You can hide some widgets on your profile: Show recent notes on the dashboard (Notes preferences), Show the structure overview on the dashboard (Organization Structure preferences) and Show pending approvals on the dashboard (Workflow Automation preferences). See Profile and preferences.
If no enabled module adds a widget, the dashboard says Your dashboard is empty. If you can view modules, a Browse modules button takes you to the Modules page.
At the bottom, the Enabled modules card lists the business modules available to your organization with their versions. If you can view users, a link takes you to Users.
The user menu
Your name, email and picture are at the bottom of the sidebar. Select them to open the user menu:
- Profile: your name, picture, password and preferences. See Profile and preferences.
- Theme: Light, Dark or System.
- Log out: ends your session in this browser.
Light and dark theme
Modulix has a light and a dark theme. System follows your computer or phone: dark when your device is in dark mode, light otherwise. System is the default.
The Theme choice in the user menu applies right away and is remembered in this browser. You can also set Theme in the Preferences card of your profile.
Pages you cannot open
If you open a link to a page that does not exist, or to a module that is not enabled for your organization, Modulix shows Page not found: "This page does not exist, or its module is not enabled for your organization." Select Back to dashboard.
Administration pages you have no permission for behave the same way. Ask an administrator if you think you should have access.
