Languages and localization

Modulix speaks several languages and adapts dates, times, numbers and amounts to where people work. The organization sets defaults on the Settings page; each person can override the language and time zone on their profile.

Available languages

LanguageShown in pickers as
EnglishEnglish
FrenchFrançais
GermanDeutsch
SpanishEspañol

The language applies to menus, buttons, messages, module names, settings and permissions, and to the emails Modulix sends: invitations, password resets and notifications.

These stay as they were entered or in English:

  • Your data: names, descriptions, product names, the labels of custom fields and their choices. Modulix shows what people typed.
  • Technical texts: the audit log and some error messages that come straight from the server.

Right-to-left languages are not supported yet.

How Modulix chooses the language

For each person, Modulix uses the first of these that is set:

  1. The Language on their profile.
  2. The organization's Default language.
  3. Their browser's language, if it is one of the available languages.
  4. English.

Emails follow the same order. For the browser language, Modulix uses the browser the person last used.

The workspace in French.

Set the organization's default language

  1. In the sidebar, under Administration, select Settings. The General section opens.
  2. Choose the Default language. Each person's browser language means no default: each browser decides.
  3. Select Save changes.

The new default applies right away to everyone who has not chosen a language on their profile.

Set your own language

  1. Open your Profile from the menu with your name at the bottom of the sidebar.
  2. In Preferences, choose the Language. Organization default follows the organization's choice.
  3. Select Save changes. The app switches language right away.

Time zones

Modulix stores times in a universal format and shows them in each person's time zone: when a record was created, when a task is due, the times in the audit log. It uses, in this order:

  1. The Time zone on the person's profile.
  2. The organization's Time zone (Settings > General).
  3. The time zone of the person's device.

Calendar dates without a time, such as an invoice's due date or a fiscal period's end, are the same for everyone and never shift with time zones.

Time zones also decide when time-based features happen for a person, for example the hour of their notification email digest.

Dates

Everyone in the organization sees dates in the same format, set in Settings > General > Date format:

FormatExample (31 March 2026)
yyyy-MM-dd (default)2026-03-31
dd/MM/yyyy31/03/2026
MM/dd/yyyy03/31/2026
dd.MM.yyyy31.03.2026

Month and weekday names, where Modulix spells them out, follow each person's language.

Numbers and amounts

Numbers follow each person's language:

LanguageExample
English1,234,567.89
Français1 234 567,89
Deutsch1.234.567,89
Español1.234.567,89

Amounts are shown with their currency and with that currency's number of decimals, for example two for CAD and none for JPY. The organization's Default currency (Settings > General) is used for new records and as the default of money fields; modules let you choose another currency where it makes sense, for example on a price book or a bank account.

Fiscal year

Settings > General > Fiscal year starts in sets the first month of the organization's fiscal year. Accounting and the financial statements use it. See Organization settings.

Several organizations

Each organization has its own defaults, and each person's language and time zone are kept per organization. Someone who works for a French and a Canadian organization can use French in the first and English in the second.

Platform defaults

Platform administrators can set defaults for every organization on the server, for example a default language and time zone for a whole country. Organizations that set their own value keep it. See Organization settings.
